Overview
INTRODUCTION Launched in March 1991, Zouk has grown into a club like none other in Asia. Regularly inspiring comparisons with Europe's top clubs such as Pacha in Ibiza and the legendary Haçienda in Manchester, Zouk aims to propel Asia's dance music culture and lead Singapore to the forefront of global clubbing. The recognition of this sprawling 4,000-capacity club is reflected by its coverage in many international publications and main dance culture magazines. In 1999, it was voted one of the top three clubs on the planet by Ministry magazine, together with Pacha in Ibiza and Twilo in New York. Zouk has also been awarded the title of 'Nightspot of the Year' by
Singapore Tourism Board in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2008 & 2009. PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES Since its beginning, Zouk has delivered an innovative and progressive clubbing environment, introducing world renowned dance music artistes to the locals. It was Singapore's first club to play House music, a risk it took at a time when its peers relied on the customary Top 40’s and retro playlists. Zouk's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic dance music in Singapore and Asia is unwavering. It has now evolved into a venue housing four distinct rooms with eight resident DJs spinning a range of musical styles. Zouk’s resident DJs are regularly sent overseas to Europe and the US for "re-orientation" and music buying trips. This keeps the club abreast of the latest clubbing and dance music trends while at the same time strengthening the club's relationship with the European and American music industries. As a sign of the club’s increasing stature, the DJs have also gone to London, Nottingham, Ibiza, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne, Wellington, Bali, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur to share their love of music with punters around the globe. Zouk also invites guest DJs and ‘Live’ acts from around the world to give their patrons the very best in entertainment. The Chemical Brothers, Ronny Jordan, Kylie Minogue, Bjork, and Primal Scream are just a few of the artistes who have played to capacity crowds on the premises. In addition, Zouk is committed to promoting local creative talent in the fields of music, fashion, design, and film, regularly working with Singapore's top design colleges and firms. The club has hosted nights of poetry reading, fashion shows such as the prestigious Smirnoff Fashion Awards (Singapore Finals), short film screenings, one-off theme nights, music related events like the Technics/DMC DJ Championships multimedia plays and theatre, and has even staged a talk show with cultural icon, Malcolm McLaren. DIVERSE MUSIC, 4 DISTINCT CLUBS Zouk has been a magnet for clubbers everywhere. Through a combination of media and word-of-mouth, Zouk's reputation has grown fast. With partygoers like John Galliano, David Beckham, Matt Dillon, Jamiroquai, Linkin’ Park, Kitaro, Futura and Shu Qi all doing dance floor duty, Zouk has become a hub for the jet-set glitteratti. The club’s diversity lies in its different themes and styles of music played each night. Fridays and Saturdays see two back-to-back evenings of the world's best, cutting edge dance music, playing Hip Hop, House, Techno, Disco, Electro, and Trance while its phenomenal mid-week party, Mambo Jambo on Wednesdays, is where clubbers enjoy an eclectic blend of hits from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and today.

With its pristine white-washed walls, extensive use of Gaudi inspired Moorish architecture, customised Gary Stewart analog soundsystem and state-of-the-art lighting, sprawling multi-level dance floor, podiums, pockets of bars and body-bending music, it's easy to see why this is deemed the heart of the club.
